World championship

World Cup Floral Art

In 2025 Florint, the international federation of florist associations, staged its first world championship, in The Hague, with competitors from 23 nations.

The 2025 tasks

  • Six design tasks over the event, each shown in its own area of the venue.
  • Task one was a free design inspired by the Dutch tulip vase: at least three stacked sections, no more than one metre square and two metres high, built in 120 minutes to last at least four days.
  • Other tasks took the Dutch coastline as a theme, using a supplied beach post, asked for a hand-tied bouquet with a rose-gold touch, and called for a headpiece inspired by the fashion designer Iris van Herpen.
  • The champion was named at a staged finale on the Saturday evening.

Judging

Six judges led by Thomas Ratschker of Germany scored the work digitally with Florint's points system: idea, colour, composition and technique.

Where it fits

Florint has run the European championship, the Europa Cup, for decades. As its membership spread beyond Europe it added this world event. The two are separate competitions.
