How it is made
- The carpet measures 70 by 24 metres and is laid by more than a hundred volunteers in under six hours.
- A committee of illustrators, graphic designers and landscape architects sets each edition's theme and design.
- Begonias were used for decades; because Belgian begonia growing has declined, dahlias are now used, with grass and bark.
History
The first carpet was laid in 1971, and it has been held on the Grand-Place every two years since 1986. The 2026 carpet had a Japanese theme.
